A multi-night production can allow quieter participation. Red Herring Games says actors lead its event while guests may interview suspects, examine evidence, listen, compare notes, or use supplied question prompts. Read the producer’s account of the ship-based format.

Do not assume that every operator forms teams or lets every guest decline a role. If acting would make you uncomfortable, ask:

The Lake Conroe page publishes a fare and arrival rule but leaves several basic comparison fields open: duration, dates, age limits, meal inclusions, and availability. It says boarding begins one hour before cruise time. Treat that as an operator-specific instruction, not a general recommendation.

Mobile supplies a more detailed outline. Adult fares start at $79.99, with starting prices of $49.99 for children 12 and under and $9.99 for infants; food is not included with the infant ticket. The two-hour experience includes a three-course meal and live entertainment. Although the page describes a cash bar as included, drinks appear to require separate payment.

Tampa’s page identifies Yacht StarShip II and lists an August 28, 2026 event, with boarding at 7:00 p.m. and cruising from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. It also specifies community-style seating and charges beyond the starting fare. The date is established by the page; remaining inventory is not.

The Toledo information comes from a Destination Toledo event listing rather than a verified live checkout. It gives an August 26, 2026 schedule of 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and an “I Love the 80’s to Death” theme, but it does not supply the fare, boarding deadline, age policy, or current inventory.

Destin’s operator describes a shared 2.5-hour cruise with improv actors, dinner choices, harbor views, allergy requests, and full-bar access. Its page does not establish a base fare, age policy, dated departure, accessibility provisions, or current availability.

Mount Washington Cruises advertises two themes—pirate-themed “Mutiny & Mayhem” and luau-themed “Hula Homicide”—with assigned characters, a buffet, soft drinks, and specialty cocktails. The announcement does not establish the departure point, duration, price, dated schedule, age restrictions, or conditions attached to “all-inclusive” and “unlimited” wording.

Missing information is a question to resolve, not an inclusion. An undisclosed age policy does not establish child admission, and access to a full bar does not mean drinks are included.

Private events and multi-night mysteries work differently

A private group can buy a customized format, but planners need to distinguish the mystery entertainment package from the underlying private event.

Capital Cruises publishes two options:

• Whodunnit: A three-act performance with five to seven actors. It lasts 2.5 hours, requires a three-hour event, and is listed at $1,395 for up to 65 passengers, plus $13.95 for each additional passenger.
• Youdunnit: A roughly 90-minute interactive comedy with two professional actors and eight to 12 guest actors selected from the client group. It is listed at $975.

Both prices are additional to the cost of the private event. Capital Cruises also states that rates are elevated in December and on holidays, while smaller-group pricing is available only by inquiry. For an ocean event, obtain written answers to questions that may not arise for a two-hour local cruise:

• Does the quoted amount include a cabin?
• Which cabin category applies?
• Are dining, taxes, gratuities, and port charges included?
