November 5, 2026. This report concerns the November 4 game in Florida.

Jeff Blashill’s criticism of Chicago’s effort after the Panthers game should not be read as criticism of every player equally. In the reported remarks, he singled out Connor Bedard for praise.

Watch: The Blackhawks’ official November 4 Blashill postgame video.

The NHL’s official game record identifies the result as Florida 5, Chicago 3, on November 4 at Amerant Bank Arena. Use that date and score to distinguish this interview from older Blackhawks–Panthers postgame clips.

The distinction a short headline can lose

TheScore’s account of the interview reports Blashill criticizing players’ effort while describing Bedard differently: “I thought he competed like crazy.”

The same account records two assists for Bedard, a plus-one rating and 22:25 of ice time. Those numbers describe his game; they are not a complete measure of effort or an explanation of the loss.

Part of the account What readers can reasonably take from it
Criticism of the team’s level of competition Blashill was dissatisfied with aspects of the collective performance.
Specific praise for Bedard The reported criticism was not an undifferentiated attack on everyone.
A demand for a full-team contribution One praised performance was not enough to satisfy the coach.

These are our distinctions between the reported statements, not additional quotations. We are not assigning the criticism to unnamed players.

Why watch the longer answer?

A clipped sentence can communicate the frustration while omitting whom the coach praised or what question prompted the answer. The team recording lets readers retain those distinctions.

There are also two separate questions to keep apart: what happened on the scoreboard, and how the coach judged the team’s performance. The official game record settles the first. Blashill’s interview supplies his assessment of the second. Neither justifies inventing an individual target for criticism that the checked reporting does not name.

Recording note: The linked asset is the team’s postgame video with audio. This page supplies a sourced guide, not a full transcript or an independently produced recording.
